Moving HeARTs in the City

Moving HeARTs in the City is a 5-week roving art truck exhibition across Singapore that showcases the artistic talents of inmates and ex-offenders and driving the community towards an inclusive society, beyond second chances.

The theme "Our Journey, Our Hope " is an art exhibition that transcends the barriers of incarceration, offering a profound glimpse into the hearts and minds of individuals who navigate the dual realms of confinement and expression.

The access to training in culinary skills, music literacy, the performing or visual arts, on top of mindset change, are integral to an ex-offender’s rehabilitation and reintegration back into society. Hence, Yellow Ribbon Singapore and the Singapore Prison Service collaborate with many like-minded stakeholders to enable this access. These efforts are celebrated at the following YRP signature events.

Yellow Ribbon Community Arts Festival

The Yellow Ribbon Community Arts Festival (formerly known as the Yellow Ribbon Community Art and Poetry Exhibition) provides opportunities for inmates and ex-offenders to showcase their artistic talents to the community through visual arts, poetry, music, culinary arts and the creation of handmade merchandises.

Yellow Ribbon
Songwriting Competition

The Yellow Ribbon Songwriting Competition is jointly organised with the Composers and Authors Society of Singapore (COMPASS).

Selected inmates go through structured coaching by industry professionals prior to the selection of song entries for the finals. Through the songs they compose, inmates can express their inner thoughts and feelings to their families and community.

Yellow Ribbon
Culinary Competition

Held in partnership with the Singapore Chefs’ Association (SCA), the Yellow Ribbon Culinary Competition showcases the culinary talents and vast potential of inmates exploring a career in the Food and Beverage (F&B) sector. Through the close mentorship and training given by chefs from the SCA, participants were able to hone their culinary skills and palette. This has helped them advance in their culinary careers and expanded their career prospects in the sector.

Yellow Ribbon Awards

The Yellow Ribbon Awards is a national platform that recognises individuals, organisations and ex-offenders for their contributions towards championing second chances and building a more inclusive and cohesive Singapore.
