This 5-week long ‘WSQ Higher Certificate in Food Services (Culinary Arts)’ is designed to train aspiring culinary professionals and groom them to be industry ready. The course is structured to provide a holistic learning experience on the skills, knowledge and attitude to join Food Service industry at the level of a 'Senior Cook/ Station Chef'. The Technical Skills and Competencies are aligned with the of the Skills Framework for Food Services. The modules are arranged to ensure progressive learning of culinary competencies from Food safety, understanding ingredients, food preparation and cooking techniques The Academy has a good track record in training vulnerable groups, especially ex-offenders. To ensure these individuals gain more confidence to be at work, learners from the general public also would be enrolled in the course. The kitchen assistants in the industry may use this course as a certification to upgrade their skills and move up in their career. HCSA shall facilitate job placements with industry partners for successful candidates, if they meet the recruitment criteria of individual F&B organisations. The Academy has a robust network of employment partners currently, which is expanding with new additions.

For admission to the course, the applicants must

- Be minimum 16 years of age

- Have completed primary 6 or equivalent level of education.

* - Be able to understand, speak, read and write basic English. This will be evaluated during the selection interviews by the Academy * HCSA Academy will consider applications from candidates with passion, but not meeting the minimum education requirement. Interview will be conducted in order to assess their suitability of such candidates to get enrolled in the course
